Kubernetes Database Engineer

In this project you’ll contact with the European stock market area. Despite its development center being located in Porto and all administrative support in Lisbon, you will be part of a multicultural team that is spread across several European cities.

We are looking for an Kubernetes Database Engineer to join a project for one of our clients, based in Porto (hybrid model).

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and optimize stateful database workloads on Kubernetes, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Implement persistent storage, backup and restore pipelines, data replication, and HA/DR strategies.
  
• Develop automation for provisioning, upgrades, and scaling using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  
• Monitor and troubleshoot database and cluster performance to ensure reliability and scalability.
  
• Ensure strong security practices including RBAC, encryption, secrets management, and network policies while collaborating with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and Development teams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at both business and technical levels (B2 English required).
  
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic and self-starter approach to managing deadlines independently.
  
• Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasion, influencing, and collaboration across different organizational levels.
  
• Team-oriented mindset with motivation to grow, willingness to share knowledge, and flexibility to work shifts and participate in on-call rotations.
